Jeff Funderburk
Lead Pastor
Jeff has served as a pastor for 28 years and has been serving at Heart of Life for the past 20. His role is to oversee and communicate the mission of Heart of Life and his passion is presenting God’s word and seeing people take steps to follow Jesus. He has been married to his middle school sweetheart Jennifer for 27 years and his favorite activities are hunting, fishing, and watching or playing just about any sport. But, he is most relaxed outside around the campfire; cup of bold coffee in hand, with his wife, 3 children, son-in-law, granddaughter, grandson and english bulldog.
Troy Wilson
Lee's Summit Campus Pastor
As pastor for the Lee’s Summit campus, Troy is passionate about helping people connect to God and each other through the scriptures, worship, small groups, prayer, missions and service projects for the church and community. Troy and his beautiful wife for over twenty years, Jodi, were saved one week apart, twenty-two years ago. Two months before they were married, they took their first mission trip to Haiti and continue to minister to the people of Haiti to this day. They are blessed with four sons and one daughter. He loves spending time with his family, whether swimming at their neighborhood pool, canoeing down a river, riding their bikes, attending a Royals, Sporting KC, or Mavericks game, skiing or riding ATV’s in the Colorado mountains or playing at the beach
Virginia Garrett
Executive Assistant to the Lead Pastor
Virginia has served at HOL since 1993 and for the last 20 years has served as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor. Virginia loves meeting people and hearing their stories about how God is at work in their lives. She is passionate about helping connect people into community with one another and into the life of the church. Outside of work, she and her husband, Don, love spending time with their two married children & their spouses and four grandchildren. Their latest fun thing to do is cruising the lake on their pontoon, trying to catch fish!
Rhonda Garrett
Visual Media Coordinator
After joining the HOL church staff in 2006, Rhonda began creating and helping manage media, such as print materials, signage, video production & editing. She has the privilege of working with a creative staff to collaborate on multiple projects in the graphic department of Heart of Life Church. Rhonda and her husband Donny enjoy spending time with their two amazing kids Tyler and Hope and look forward to what God has in store for their future.
Charles Funderburk
Garden City Campus Pastor
After 45 years of full-time ministry in five different states, Charles decided it was time for retirement. Since 2008 those retirement years have been spent serving as a SupportPastor at Heart of Life. One of the most thrilling benefits is the opportunity to serve in ministry together with his son, Jeff, who is the Lead Pastor. Ain’t God Good!!!
He has been married to Ginger for over 50 years. He still likes golf and fishing and needs to do more of both.
Jason Riel
Worship Pastor
A former public high school music teacher and U.S Army Reserve officer, Jason loves the opportunity to connect the hearts of people to their Creator through worship. He’s an avid Kansas City Royals fan with slight ADHD tendencies and loves making music with his two sons, Zach and Jacob. Jason feels blessed that he has been able to share this wild journey God has given him with Karen, his high school sweetheart, who he married in 1990.
Pam Hustad
Student Coordinator
Working with students as the Student Director for Heart of Life has become more of a privilege for Pam than a job. During the last 25 years, Pam has worked with students in various roles and has loved every minute of it. Her joy from this ministry comes from the opportunity to see students realize how much God loves them and help them apply His truths to their daily lives. Helping students to become leaders and gain a passion for Jesus and their relationship with Him, all while working alongside a great team of adults who share in her love for working with students, is what brings much joy to Pam’s heart in Student Ministry. Pam enjoys spending time with her husband and family; her grandkids bringing much joy during that time. You may also find Pam in the kitchen enjoying her love for cooking and baking or spending time with friends over a cup of coffee.
Robin Hasenyager
Director of Rocked World
Robin is the director of Rocked World, a drama ministry that started in 2013.When asked to start Rocked World, Robin’s response was, “No Way!” But after a little prayer, she felt God saying, “Trust me and step out of your comfort zone.” Now she can’t imagine what life would be like if she hadn’t trusted God in this big step. Many of the actors and crew have become like family and that proved to be invaluable as they prayed for and encouraged her during battles with diabetes and cancer. She has also learned serving God is a blast and is never boring!In her free time, Robin enjoys, cooking, working in the yard, woodworking, and spending time with her family.
Gabe Cantrell
Counseling Pastor
Gabe Cantrell serves as the campus pastor for the Adrian Campus. Gabe and his wife grew up in the Adrian area and attended school at Adrian where their 3 children, Ragan, Nash and Izzy attend. Gabe has a heart and passion for understanding who God is and helping others around also learn about the one true God.
Matt Cox
Associate Pastor
Matt began serving at Heart of Life as an intern in May of 2017. Since then he has graduated from Midwestern Seminary with bachelor's degree in May of 2018, and begun pursuing his master's degree through New Orleans Seminary. During his time with Heart of Life, Matt has also served as a mid-term missionary in Taiwan. Matt enjoys travel, hiking, drinking good coffee, and spending time with his wife Amy.
Andrea Sutcliffe
Children's Coordinator
Don and Andrea were married in 1993. They met while Don was in his first year of teaching and Andrea was a student teacher in the same school. They have attended Heart of Life since 2001. Don has taught math at Grandview High School since that time, while Andrea, a former elementary teacher, has focused on homeschooling their 6 children. Before coming to HOL they served in Youth Ministry for 5 years. Don and Andrea have served HOL in many roles in the past. They enjoy serving on mission trips and are passionate about equipping families to serve together in the church, in their local communities, and on the mission field. Currently Don and Andrea’s favorite pastime is a quiet cup of coffee together. They both enjoy the various aspects of quilting, travel, and time spent together. You will seldom find them apart.
Peter Assad
Associate Pastor
Peter has been serving in various forms of ministry since childhood—whether preaching, worship, counseling, or helping others discover and discern their own unique callings. He and his wife Grace regularly share the story of Jesus through word, art, and song at poemsofgrace.com.
