Meet Karen Riel

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Karen Riel and I am a member of the HOL Women’s Ministry Team. My husband, Jason and I have lived in Garden City for 27 years and have served at Heart of Life for about 26 of those years. We have raised our two sons, Zachary-25 and Jacob-22 in the church and in this wonderful small community. I have worked at Sherwood Elementary School for 25 years, the last 15 of those years in a preschool classroom. As well as being a member of the Women’s Ministry Team, I teach in the children’s area and I’m also part of the welcome team. I have gone on several mission trips to Togo, West Africa and have been blessed to serve in many VBS activities both there and at home!

When we moved to Garden City, we were moving four hours away from our families. We were not sure we wanted to stay in this area until we found this church. Once that happened, we felt we had found a home and more important, a family. We raised our family here and this church has loved our us as if we were their own. This is what I want for the women who attend our church and live in our communities. I want the activities we organize to help them develop those same kinds of relationships for themselves and their families.
